I can has faster speeds?

I think it’s time for an upgrade.

I’m currently with the Internet Service Provider Netspace, who, over the years, have been fairly good in my eyes in terms of value for money, although their customer support does keep you waiting for a bit :/.

At the moment, I’m on an ADSL 512kbps down, 128kbps up 30GB plan, which costs about 40 bucks a month. Having that amount of bandwidth is overkill, though, since I only ever seem to be able to use about 5GB of actual data (<3 PIPE… so much free content to download :D ).

Last night, while browsing the Netspace website, I discovered a plan for the same amount that I’m – well, Mum is – paying now, the ADSL2+ 20 Anytime. I also noticed that, for a limited time, they’re offering a free upgrade from ADSL1 to any ADSL2+ service, available through the ISP’s account management website.

Interesting…

I don’t care about bandwidth that much. To be honest, even if I did have a faster internet connection than I have now, I still wouldn’t download much. I play games more than downloading shit, and if I’m not downloading, I’m programming/mucking around with something.

Oh well, looks like I’ve got some convincing to do!

Better make sure netspace has an adsl2+ dslam in your exchange, or if thy resell though optus that optus have one there. Also m,ake sure you’re not on a RIM or there’s no ADSL2 no matter how much you want it.

Well, their account management website checks for me if they can supply ADSL2+ to my number, and it said that they could, so… :D

    I’ve got tpg internet.
    $50 a month, 24mbit.
    55GiB, unlimited uploads.

The only bad things are the static IP address and the downloads are divided between peak and offpeak.

Care to explain what’s bad about a static IP address TmTgr? Where has it failed you, in your experiences?

  9. SpiltCoffee says:

Probably if he gets banned from a server, he’ll stay banned with no alternative, like resetting his modem to get a new IP.

    yep, that is the problem.
But otherwise you can host a website, server and whatanot on your computer and it would be able to access at the same ip all the time, as otherwise it would change every 24hrs.

And you can easily avoid rapidshares and other similar sites download limitations.
    ;{D

Yeah, the ‘free’ hosting is very useful :)
